Ingredients

  • For the base:
  • 65 grams (1/2 cup) icing sugar or powdered sugar
  • 140 grams (1 cup) plain flour or all-purpose flour
  • 75 grams (3/4 cup) oatmeal or porridge
  • 125 grams (1/2 cup or 1 stick) butter, melted
  • For the caramel:
  • 240 ml (1 cup) sweetened condensed milk
  • 60 grams (1/4 cup) butter
  • For the topping:
  • 30 grams (1/2 cup) icing sugar or powdered sugar, sifted
  • 70 grams (1 cup) plain flour or all purpose flour
  • 35 grams (3/4 cup) oatmeal or porridge
  • 60 grams (1/4 cup) butter, melted

Instructions

    1. Preheat the oven to 180 C on bake.
    2. In a large mixing bowl, add sugar, flour and oatmeal/porridge. Mix to combine. Add melted butter and stir until moist.
    3. Place mixture into baking pan and press down to form one even layer. Bake in the oven for 12-15 minutes or until the crust is slightly golden on the edges. Remove from the oven and set aside.
    4. In a saucepan, add sweetened condensed milk and butter. Place on a low heat and stir constantly until the caramel turns golden brown and thickens slightly. This takes at least 8-10 minutes.
    5. Once the caramel has thickened, remove from heat and pour over the crust. Then bake for another 12 minutes or until golden brown on the edges.
    6. Mix together the crumble by adding all the ingredients into a bowl and mix.
    7. Add crumble on top of cooked caramel and place back into the oven for an additional 10 minutes or until golden.
    8. Remove from the oven, and cool then cut into small squares.
